I am Jessica Boylen, the second grade teacher. It is my goal to make my students love learning as much as I do. I help students master new skills, while sprinkling in some fun. I also enjoy sharing my love of music, so if you walk by my classroom, you may hear music playing while the students and I work. You may also see the students up out of their desk, dancing and enjoying a Gonoodle brain break. I have high expectations for my students and help them realize their true potential. I love to see the change in students from “I cannot” to “I can try” to “I can”!
Outside the classroom,
my duties include coaching junior varsity volleyball and assisting with the forensics program. I played volleyball, basketball, and softball in high school, but volleyball was always my favorite. I feel lucky to work with talented and driven student-athletes and share my love for the game. I was also active in my school’s plays which sparked my interest in forensics. I enjoy listening to and judging students’ forensics performances. When I am not supporting students, I am staying active, reading, crafting, and listening to music. In the summer, I work at a local floral business.
I earned my Elementary Education major with Early-Childhood and Special Education Inclusion minors from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Before attending college, I grew up and graduated from Seneca, so I understand the benefits of growing up in a small community. It really does take a village to raise a child and I feel fortunate to be able to teach in a school supported by its community!
