Mrs. Mitchell

Physical Education

Family Consumer Sciences

I work with students that both value physical activity and feel the need to get up and move around.  I give them the tools to get more exercise, while making it fun and exciting.  I help them look and feel totally confident in themselves and their abilities.

I am unique as an educator

because I teach two totally different content areas.  My first degree was in Physical Education/Health/Adaptive PE (UWP), and my second degree was in Family and Consumer Sciences (UWSP).  This is quite possibly the strangest combination a person could come up with!

I am the FCCLA Advisor and the PALS mentoring coordinator here at Wauzeka-Steuben.

I strongly believe you get out of life what you put into it, and there is no substitute for hard work!

When I’m not teaching and coaching, I can be found spending time outdoors and with my family.  I love all sports and enjoy farming as my second occupation.  My husband and I have a hobby farm of our own raising Brown Swiss bottle babies and steers, and we are also a part of a large beef and crop farming operation (Spring Creeks Cattle Company).  My kids and I have a small herd of heifers and cows at my parents’ dairy farm in Platteville, which is where I grew up, just north of the big “M”.

Some things you don’t know about me are;

  • I LOVE junk food!
  • I could eat pizza every day of my life.
  • I enjoy writing poems.
  • I enjoy hunting.
  • I am a Hawkeye
  • and a Bears fan, and I take A LOT of heat because of that.
  • My kids and I frequently have dance parties in the living room.
  • I do not like cold weather, at all!
  • I hold three Track and Field records at Belmont High School and went to state all four years of high school.
  • I played basketball at UW-P, scored over 1,000 points, and received the Female Athlete of the Year Award my senior year of college.
