Duties:

- Assist the special education teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students
- Provide one-on-one and/or small group support to students with special needs in various subjects
- Collaborate with the teacher to develop and modify lesson plans to meet the unique needs of each student
- Support students in their academic, social, and emotional development
- Assist with classroom management and behavior management strategies
- Monitor student progress and document observations for progress reports
- Assist with the preparation of materials and resources for instructional activities
- Provide support during assessments and testing
Skills:
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and other staff members
- Patience and empathy when working with students who have diverse learning needs
- Ability to follow directions and implement instructional strategies as directed by the teacher
- Organizational skills to assist with lesson planning, material preparation, and record keeping
- Flexibility to adapt to changing situations and student needs
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles for working with preschool or toddler-aged students
