Welcome to the Wauzeka-Steuben School District

It feels like home.
Siblings get on and off the school bus together.  Older siblings walk their younger brothers and sisters to their classrooms in the morning.  There is a sense of family within the district that goes beyond the immediate families of our students.

"Everyone looks out for each other," said one parent who has had three children go through the district, her youngest in his senior year.  "We moved back to the area for our children to attend this school because of the family culture that exists within these walls. We didn't have to give anything up to get this.  The opportunities for students are like those in larger districts. But, this feeling of family is something that's not easy to replicate."

Whether it's Prom or Graduation, the Wauzeka-Steuben School District has big traditions.  Students, staff, families, and community members look forward to these special events each year. And, since many adults in our community participated in these traditions as students, they are especially meaningful.

One of the most important of these traditions is creating a connection between our grade levels. Older students tutor and mentor younger students creating a exciting learning opportunity for both the "big kids" and the "little kids."  There is nothing like having a high schooler read you a story or help you with math homework.  And, our high schoolers were once the ones being tutored. They love the opportunity to take it full circle and help younger students.

Class sizes throughout the district are small, offering the opportunities for optimum learning in academic areas.  

The high school curriculum is rounded out with excellent science, math, social studies, language arts, and career-tech programs, We offer AP classes and have ACT scores that are among the highest in the region and surpassing the state average!

Students excel in co-curricular activities such as SkillsUSA, FFA, FCCLA, Music, and Forensics.  Additionally, our high school students experience out-of-state class trips, providing students with valuable educational, cultural, and travel experiences.
